Genesis 47:13-26, Be a lifesaver

 Genesis 47:13-26, Be a lifesaver

As famine intensifies throughout Egypt, as God said, Joseph saves the lives of the people by releasing the stored food. It also establishes tax laws that nationalize land and livestock and reap one-fifth of their income.

Topic

You have made us the life and blessing of the world, so let's serve and serve in the given place.

Key question

What is the purpose of God's sending us to the world?

Be a lifesaver

Joseph, Ruler of Egypt

1. Entering

There are many kinds of blessings in life, but the best thing you can do as a people is to meet a good leader. If the people meet a leader who is indifferent, incompetent, or self-interested, they will be blessed with no leader. And their lives will suffer.

Joseph showed a good leader as the prime minister of Egypt. He fulfilled the Prime Minister's mission and saved the lives of many Egyptians and their families from famine.

There is a mission that gave us new life and God gave us by the blood of Jesus Christ. Through Joseph in the text, we would like to see where our mission is.

 2. Text

(1) Joseph, who collects the property of the people

At first, the Egyptians, who bought food from Joseph with their own money, ran out of money and sold their livestock, land, and bodies to buy food. As a result, the land of Egypt and the people of Egypt belong to Pharaoh, and Joseph carries out land reform based on this. After distributing the appropriate amount of land, pay one-fifth of the amount of waste as tax.

(2) Reasons for the collection of the property of the people;

As the saying goes, "Poverty is beyond our control," when a great famine comes, like the background of the text, the poor cannot get food right away and die of hunger. However, according to the new land law, Joseph will distribute the land as much as necessary to all the people, and no one will be unable to farm because of the lack of land.

And since 20% of the tax is paid to the country and the rest is to the people who farmed, those who worked hard will not starve to death. In other words, Joseph opened the way for the poor people of Egypt, who originally had no land, to farm and live.

Joseph collected the property of the people because he had a great will to save the lives of the poor.

(3) Be a lifesaver

God gave Joseph the mission of the Prime Minister, not because of Joseph's wealth. Even though it was not God's chosen people, it was because of God's love for even one soul. He appointed Joseph as prime minister to give love evenly to all so that even the poor in Egypt would not starve to death. Joseph was appointed prime minister to save the lives of the Egyptians and to save Jacob's family.

Everything we enjoy now is not just for my pleasure. God has given me many things to look back on those who are more difficult and in need. Therefore, the purpose of Jesus' death to give us life is to save another dying life through me.

3. Conclusion

Where are we standing today, and what's the occasion? I hope I can save a dying soul and save lives with whatever I have. Each of us has a different gift, but its purpose is the same. You gave me a gift to help me live as a life saver.

May this day be a day of praise to our Lord as a kind and loyal servant, saving one more soul and one more life.

4. Prayer

God, let me serve the weak with the grace you have given me. Be a life saver. May my life be not just for me, but for the purpose of giving me life, but for the little Jesus who saves the dying soul.

I leave today's life to the Lord. Use me to save our homes, our workplaces, our churches, and the lives of this region, just as Joseph saved the lives of the people of Egypt through Jonah.

I pray in the name of Jesus.

5. Prayer Title

  • Live as a lifesaver who lives dying with God's wisdom and sincerity.
  • Protect the missionaries who work hard for the mission of the world, and take care of their situation. Please fill my needs.
  • Let our church be the church that saves the lives of the surrounding areas, and let the fragrance of Jesus be revealed throughout our lives.
